Luke is 5!
This past week marked Luke’s 5th birthday. It’s hard to believe but it’s been a wonderful and busy 5 years. Just a couple weeks ago we registered Luke for Kindergarten as he starts that this fall too!

We took Luke to his first (and last in the Metrodome) Vikings game this fall. He had a blast but unfortunately the Vikings lost this one!
The 2010 MN State Fair has come & gone, and I think we ended up going on the coldest day of the fair! Luke enjoyed it! We started the day with Mini Donuts, and he cleaned off the stick from Mommy’s Pronto Pup!
The whole time we all grew up we made trips to the Heimkes cabin and always had fun enjoying playing in Lake Mille Lacs. It was pretty special being able to take Luke this summer so he could experience it! We stayed at the Reichert’s cabin, but they’re only 2 doors down from Heimkes’!
It’s been a while (evidence: Luke’s been to the zoo 3 times now!, He’s even learned the word!)
Hard to see, but this was checking out the Northerns & Walleyes at the zoo on our last trip
You’ll notice the Blog is drastically different, more changes will be coming, but I’ve been working with a new program now and it’s much easier to use! I still need to show Kathy how to use it yet!
Not a ton to say, it’s been a busy couple months, Luke’s learning more words by the day, it’s incredible the # of words he knows, and it’s funny because he’ll spit out a word we had no idea he knew! His favorite toy is still a ball, but he’s been getting in the Megablocks lately, as well as continuing to love books!
Kathy’s sister Chris is visiting from Georgia with her kids, below is a pic of Luke and his cousin McKayla playing catch on the 4th!
2 more of Luke’s favorite things…Brushing his teeth and daddy’s hat!
I think this might be one of my least coherent posts…sorry! Stay Tuned though…more to come now that the blog is fully functional again, but it sounds like somebody is waking up from his nap!
We decided to get a Zoo Membership this year so we could take Luke whenever we wanted, yesterday we broke in our membership with Grandma & Grandpa!
This was the very first thing we did, Luke wasn't sure what to think yet!
Luke likes watching Grandpa Steve's fish, but these are a lot bigger & colorful at the zoo!
Luke liked checking out pretty much all of the animals, but he does NOT like goats, one of them licked his hand, and he freaked out, this picture was him having a meltdown about it…it was pretty funny despite his trauma over it! We'll work on this this summer.
The first animal Luke could associate it's sound with was a Chicken, so it was no surprise we probably spent the longest looking at the chickens on the farm!
I'm sure we'll have more tales from the zoo this summer!
Time sure flies lately!
Last weekend Luke had his second haircut, and he is quickly learning words, and associating animal sounds to the animal…next time you see him, ask what a Chicken says (or a dog, or horsey) He also knows what a Bunny does (hop hop hop in a whisper!) I may be missing some, but other recent words so far are teeth, ball, book, shoe…
His all time favorite toy right now is a ball! Usually it's the first word out of his mouth in the morning and when we get home from day-care, speaking of he knows Joan's name now too!
He's also keeping us quite busy walking a lot! He's a little unstable, but he walks by himself the past couple weeks pretty good, every once in a while he makes it across the whole living room, but usually he gets halfway and falls, then crawls the rest of the way. The key thing is that he prefers trying to walk anywhere lately, so I imagine by the time it's nice enough to be outside more without bundling Luke up he'll be running all over.
A Couple other photos from tonight's outdoor fun
Checking if Grandma had called yet…
Mmmmm, this pinecone tastes good!
First we have to start the mower…
Luke had to figure out why he was getting stuck sometimes!
Crusin along…
Putting the mower away!
